As a beneficiary, a family allowance can be added to your benefits if you are:
- Married (prior to the retirement date)
- Unmarried and in receipt of a child allowance
As a beneficiary, a child allowance can be added to your benefits if you have at least one dependent child. Entitlement to this allowance ceases when the child no longer meets the conditions as defined in the applicable Staff Rules and Regulations.
- Family allowance = 690 CHF per month
- Child allowance = 491 CHF per month
Allowances are based on the maximum period of membership (35 years or 37 years and 10 months, depending on when you joined the Fund). These are reduced proportionally according to the effective number of years of membership.
Beneficiaries are required to declare the amount of any allowances received from another source (including by the spouse) and this will be deducted from the benefits paid by the Fund.
Child allowance: amount for double orphans
The maximum child allowance of 491 CHF is payable.
Surviving spouse fixed sum
An allowance, called a fixed sum, is added to the surviving spouse’s basic pension.
Amount and calculation:
- Fixed sum = 564 CHF per month
The fixed sum is based on the maximum period of membership (e.g. 35 years or 37 years and 10 months, depending on when you joined the Fund). The allowance is reduced proportionally according to the effective number of years of membership.
