Marcus Klug graduated from the University of Economics and Business in Vienna with a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on finance, the financial markets and public economics.

He began his professional career at Reuters and joined the Creditanstalt Investment Bank in Vienna and Warsaw in 1995, working initially as an equities analyst before moving on to the corporate finance area.

In 1997, Marcus moved to London to work at Barclays Capital in the derivatives field. After a move to Dresdner Kleinwort, he returned to Vienna at the end of 1999 to take up a position at UNIQA Finanz-Service GmbH as a senior portfolio manager for UNIQA’s investment portfolio.

From 2002 to 2005, he was the managing director of UNIQA Alternative Investments. He co-founded Omicron Investment Management at the end of 2005, followed by Lionheart Risk Solutions in 2006, and remained a member of their respective management boards until 2008.

From 2003 to 2013, Marcus was a lecturer at the Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of Economics and Business in Vienna. In October 2008, he was appointed to the executive board of directors of the Bundespensionskasse AG, Austria’s public pension fund for civil servants and government employees, and has since been responsible for the fund’s investments and finance.
