Jacob Bjorheim is a lecturer in the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Basel and a visiting fellow in the Department of Banking and Finance at the University of Zurich. His research interests are central banks, monetary policy and the investment management of foreign currency reserves.

Prior to his current assignments, Jacob was the head of asset management at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel. During his 10 years of service with the BIS, he was a member of several internal committees, including the Banking Department Management Group, the Pension Fund Portfolio Committee and the Third-Party Asset Management Committee. He has also held various senior management positions in the Asset Management and Wealth Management divisions of the UBS.

He holds an MSc and a PhD from the London School of Economics (LSE) and an MSc from the University of St Gallen, Switzerland. He is also a CFA charterholder.
